Resolving The Problem
This error can be caused by one of the following issues:
1) A Yantra
executable that is being patched is currently running.
2) Improper network
permissions.
3) Insufficient disk space.
4) Media errors. (bad/corrupted
disk)
1) Since this issue is almost always caused by the first
issue, the first thing you should do is run the following commands at the
command prompt to see if any Yantra applications are running:
ps -ef
|grep wh960.exe
ps -ef |grep nnetd
ps -ef |grep <paste the value
of $DCS_BASE here>
ps -ef |grep wh
If one of these is running,
exit the process, or use "kill -9" if necessary, and then re-run the Hotfix
patch.
2) If you are logged in as a user that does not have
permission to write to the $DCS_BASE/obj folder, you may get this error. Log
in as the correct user, or talk to your system admin to resolve
this.
3) Use the "df -b" command to check the available disk
space on your folder/partition. If not, you wiill need to delete some files
that you do not use. We recommend you back these files up, or make sure you
can get them from somewhere before you delete them. If this is too much
trouble, check with your system administrator to see if they can simply
allocate more space to you.
It is a common practice for users to archive
old hotfix patches on their machine in the
folders:
$DCS_BASE/hotfix/<hotfix number>
$DCS_BASE/hotfix/<HF
number>/backup
Keep in mind, the original files you received from Yantra
(either on CD or by downloading from the FTP site) should always be available,
so there is no need to save them locally. This is especially true of the .rtp
file, which may be over 250 MB alone. If you have files in the /backup folder,
you will want to save these, as they are necessary to roll back to a previous
hotfix if you have issues with the new hotfix.
It is recommended that
you archive the /backup folder and delete the downloaded files, especially the
.rtp file to prevent space issues from occurring.
4) If the
above issues all check out, you may be experiencing media errors. This can
occur with old, damaged or corrupted storage media. Have your admin check the
disk for errors.
