Error description
Error Message: An unexpected InvocationTargetException is thrown by the JVM. . Stack Trace: N/A . The problem can only occur when HCR (Hot Code Replace) is enabled and JSR 292 Java code is JIT compiled. Note that HCR is enabled and required when an agent is attached.
Local fix
The issue can be avoided by disabling HCR with the option -XX:-EnableHCR. Note that HCR is required for java agents so the workaround is incompatible with the use of a java agent.
Problem summary
When the JVM attempts to compile methods containing JSR 292 calls with incorrect types and HCR is enabled, the type checks for the JSR 292 calls will be corrupted by the addition of HCR infrastructure.
Problem conclusion
The JIT compiler has been updated to avoid adding HCR infrastructure on the relevant JSR292 calls. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR5 (8.0.5.0) 7 R1 SR4 FP15 (7.1.4.15) 7 SR10 FP15 (7.0.10.15) .
