Error description
Root cause for the Application not responsive in start center and when switching between applications - When the Maximo UI application code loads an application (start center or any app) page, the code returned includes a mix of HTML/CSS, and JavaScript (which is typical of any web application). In this mixed HTML and script, some script is executed very early while the HTML content is not fully processed by the browser. The script code executed refers to a JavaScript function that is not yet loaded and also refers to HTML elements that are not yet processed by the browser. This causes the script code to fail and the application state becomes abnormal. In a low latency network (for ex: LAN), the page response comes very quickly and by the time the browser starts to execute the script all the script code is readily available and all the HTML elements are already processed by the browser. Keep in mind that the browser processes the data as it receives from the server (usually in chunks). In a high latency (for ex: WAN) situation, because some of the chunks can arrive late, the processing can get initiated by the browser very quickly. Steps to replicate: 1. Open Chrome browser. 2. Open Developer tools (F12) 3. Change to the Network Tab and set the mode to GRPS to simulate the high latency 4. 4. Login to Maximo and you would see an error in the console and the start center portlets spin. Similar behavior when switching between applications.
