IV91077: CRASH IN JIT COMPILATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: Segmentation faults in jit dll with a vmState and
  a Method_being_compiled. The vmState and the
  Method_being_compiled can vary in different failures. An example
  is as follows:

Local fix

• The problem can be worked around using the
  -Xjit:disableKnownObjectTable option. Using this option may
  reduce performance.
  

Problem summary

• When compiling a method, the JIT would load a field of an object
  that is known to stay unchanged during the program. In certain
  circumstances, the reference to the object can be unresolved in
  the constant pool, leading to a crash in the JIT. This issue
  affects all platforms.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JIT compiler has been fixed to avoid the problem by checking
  whether the reference to the object is resolved.
