Problem
Incorrect Inventory Picture for SKU: INV Discrepancy/Mismatch : Bar Code Translation Problem.
Symptom
PART: Inventory 5.1.1 SP2 DCS
COMPONENT: 00051 Inv Inquiry
DATABASE:
Oracle - 7.3.4
Using function ID 00051 (Inventory Inquiry) for SKU
XXXXXX, inventory for SKU YYYYYYY is displayed.
Inventory exists for
both SKUs separately in both warehouse and Locn_Inv tables, but inventory is
incorrectly displayed.
These are independent SKUs.
The problem:
Bar Code Translation for the SKU was setup incorrectly.
Cause
Resolving The Problem
The investigation steps are attached with case 12967 in a file for future
reference.
Steps Followed :
* Check the SKU INV in all views on
Inventory Inquiry ( 00051 ) screen: WHSE, LOCN, Detail.
* SKU XXXXXX was
being translated to YYYYYYY in WHSE and LOCN views.
* Checked INV in SQL:
INV existed for both SKUs seperately.
* Something is wrong with translation
of SKU on Inventory Inquiry ( 00051 ) screen.
* Check "Val Type" for
Inventory Inquiry ( 00051 ) in Function Profile Setup ( 09753 ); the value is
"04".
* Check "Bar Code Type and their priorities" for given "Val Type" in
"Bar Code Val Prty Setup" (function ID 09308).
* These Bar Code Types are
activated based on length of string entered
* In this case, most of the Bar
Code Types were fixed length and the length was greater than the SKU length (10
characters)
* Bar Code Type A2 was set up with variable length.

Checked the Bar Code for Item ID
* Check The "Bar Code Type", "Bar Code" and
"SKU" setup in Bar Codes Transln Setup (function ID 09309)
