Scheduling rule --> How do you optimize on
shipments, use geography, distribution work
Cause
Resolving The Problem
Ship nodes priorities are determined based on the distribution rule id used. If
the allocation rule used has 'Use Geography' set to 'Y' then the following
logic is applied to obtain the ship node priority:
Shipnode priority *
AllocationRule.WeightByDistribution + Distance between shipnode and delivery
location * AllocationRule.WeightByGeography
The weights are what we specify
in the Scheduling rule configuration screen. The shipnode priority is got from
the yfs_item_ship_node. (Distribution setup) The Distance between shipnode and
delivery location is based off the latitude and longitude data in
yfs_zip_code_location. (the factory setup script should be loading the data). I
am not exactly sure how the "distance" is determined though.
Once this
number called Priority (P) is computed then the other parameters such as # of
Shipments (C) and Date rank (D) are also factored. (I am not sure how exactly a
value is assigned to D) Depending on the Optimization type (Shipments, Date or
Priority) the options are ranked and a best one is chosen. for e.g. if
Shipments is the optimization type then first sourcing solution used will be
the one with lowest C value. Ties if any are broken by then using the P value
and if necessary the D value.
