Error description
Error Message: java -classpath C:\Users\u1234\libs HelloWorld Error: Could not find or load main class HelloWorld or java -Dfoo=\u0058 ... system property "foo" is set to "X" (Unicode code point 0x58) in the application. . Stack Trace: N/A . Problem occurs only on Windows. Class paths are corrupted if the directory or file name starts with 'udddd' (where "d" is a decimal digit), or a system property contains "\udddd".
Local fix
Problem summary
The Java VM misinterprets system properties set via the launcher or JNI Invocation API, including search paths, containing "\udddd" on Windows as a Unicode escape sequence. System properties set from Java code are not affected.
Problem conclusion
The Java VM command line processing code has been changed to translate Unicode escape sequences only if the "-Xargencoding" option (without encoding specifiers) is used. This matches the behaviour of the Java VM prior to Java 7.1. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 7 R1 SR3 FP40 (7.1.3.40) 8 SR3 (8.0.3.0) .
