Error description
Error Message: com.ibm.cuda.CudaException: mapping of buffer object failed . Stack Trace: com.ibm.cuda.CudaException: mapping of buffer object failed at com.ibm.cuda.CudaEvent.create(Native Method) at com.ibm.cuda.CudaEvent.(CudaEvent.java:80) ... .
Local fix
Exclude CudaEvent.FLAG_INTERPROCESS in creation flags.
Problem summary
Use of CudaEvent.FLAG_INTERPROCESS when creating a CudaEvent requires the CUDA driver to make the event accessible to other processes. This appears to involve a file created in /dev/shm which does not get deleted immediately when the event is destroyed. Many left-over files eventually interferes with creating new inter-process events.
Problem conclusion
The JVM has been updated to invoke cudaDeviceReset() during shutdown which causes any temporary files in /dev/shm to be deleted. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR3 (8.0.3.0) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs. For those running stand-alone, information about the available Service Refreshes and Fix Packs can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/
