Error description
Error Message: unexpected java.lang.NullPointerException is thrown from Java program . Stack Trace: java.lang.NullPointerException at org.jruby.runtime.ThreadContext.pollThreadEvents(ThreadContext.j ava:662) at org.jruby.ast.CaseNode.interpret(CaseNode.java:123) at org.jruby.ast.NewlineNode.interpret(NewlineNode.java:105) at org.jruby.evaluator.ASTInterpreter.INTERPRET_BLOCK(ASTInterprete r.java:1 12) . This problem can only occur on x86 platforms.
Local fix
This issue might be worked around with the Java option -Xjit:disableLoopVersioner. However, this might not work for all the cases.
Problem summary
This problem happens because that x86 code generator decides not to generate the null test based on a flag on the variable which was wrongly set by a loop related optimization.
Problem conclusion
The loop related optimization has been fixed to avoid setting the flag in certain cases. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR2 FP10 (8.0.2.10) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs. For those running stand-alone, information about the available Service Refreshes and Fix Packs can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/
