IV69027: LOG FILE AGENT CRASHES IN EIF WHEN USING TRANSPORTLIST

IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 5 (6.3.0-TIV-ITM-FP0005)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The Tivoli Log File agent crashes on startup when using the
  TransportList option instead of the ServerLocation.  This occurs
  after upgrading the Shared Libraries (ax component) to 6.23 FP1
  or higher.
  This problem was seen on Linux, but could occur other platforms.
  
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  Create an LFA .conf file that includes the TransportList option
  similar to below.  Ensure the ServerLocation and ServerPort are
  not specified:

  EventMaxSize=4096
  BufferEvents=YES
  BufEvtMaxSize=8192
  PollInterval=10
  ConnectionMode=CO

  c1_ServerLocation=system1.xxx.com
  c1_Port=9998
  
  After upgrading the Shared Libraries component to higher than
  6.23 FP1, the agent will crash on startup.   With tracing set
  to "ALL", will see the following as the last message:

Local fix

• Specify ServerLocation and ServerPort instead of TransportList
  options.
  

Problem summary

• The Tivoli Log File agent crashes on startup when using the
  TransportList option instead of the ServerLocation.  This occurs
   after upgrading the Shared Libraries (ax component) to 6.2.3
  FP1 or higher.  This problem was seen on Linux, but could occur
  other platforms.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code was updated to correctly handle the condition.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Use the ServerLocation instead.
