Error description
DURING UPGRADE, THE OPERATION TO LOAD AND CAPTURE DATA TAKES TOO LONG TO COMPLETE
Local fix
Not applicable
Problem summary
During the upgrade process, the tool provided are used to first capture the data from the original WSRR instance. This capture process takes a very long time to complete. The tool is then used to load the captured data into the new WSRR instance and this also takes a very long time to complete.
Problem conclusion
Both the capture and load operations make use of a Derby database that is used as a temporary store for the WSRR data. SQL indexes were introduced to improve the performance of the database interactions. Some of the SQL used to create these indexes contained an extra ';' character as a result of a typing error that prevented the indexes from being created. This meant that the upgrade process was robust, but could not benefit from the indexes. The SQL has now been corrected so the indexes are created and used correctly and has resulted in a significantly reduced data capture and load time. This fix is targetted for inclusion in fix pack 2 for WSRR v7.0 and fix pack 3 for WSRR v6.3.
