Question & Answer

Question

What level of support Sterling Call Center and Store PCA (formerly COM PCA) provide for Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN)?

Answer

GTIN is the evolving standard for product identification. The Sterling Multi-Channel Fulfillment Solution uses GTIN to cross-reference between item definitions of different catalog organizations. For more information about defining catalog organizations, see the Sterling Multi-Channel Fulfillment Solution Platform Configuration Guide.
There is no additional restriction/ functionality introduced with respect to GTIN in COM PCA (in comparison to the DOM functionality). GTIN is involved in the same functionality as in DOM.
GTIN is exposed as GlobalItemID="" in search and create (for items) API’s. Some examples are createItem, manageItem with respect to creation and maintenance functionality; getItemDetails, getItemList, getItemListForOrdering with respect to the search functionality.
However, Ordering or Fulfillment API’s do not expose this GTIN, because ordering and fulfillment are done at Enterprise level. Here, the Item ID in a combination with the Enterprise code can be used for a unique recognition.
