WMS: Configurations required to create containers of type Pallet during containerizeWave

Question & Answer

Question

WMS: Configurations required to create containers of type Pallet during containerizeWave

Answer

Can containerizeWave generate pallet containers?

Yes, pallets can be generated on running containerizeWave.

ContainerizeWave agent / API creates containers of type case or pallet for shipments based on the below configurations under WMS tree:

1.  Pack Planning:
Shipment Container Marking Label (SCM): Apply SCM on all Shipping units (cases or pallets)

2.  Task type:
Task type configured and associated in Pick Location Assignment rule.

3.  Alternate Unit Of Measure (UOM) for Item:
UOM of the Item on the shipment.

To generate a pallet container, sample configuration is as below:

1.   Pack Planning:
SCM Label:  Apply SCM on all Shipping units (cases or pallets)
2.   Task type:
Product is picked onto an inventory pallet
                Pack while picking
                Use system containerization
3. Alternate UOM for Item:
Pallet containers are created on the basis of alternate UOM setup of the Item.
Alternate UOM "Pallet" should be defined for the Item under: Product Management -> Products -> Item Details -> Units of Measure tab -> Alternate UOMs

When above configurations are set containerizeWave will generate a pallet.

If the shipment line quantity is equal to pallet qty (or multiples of pallet qty) configured in Alternate UOM, then Pallets are generated. Each pallet can accommodate the pallet qty defined for item.
For all the remaining shipment quantity, containerizeWave generates container of Type "Case".
