Error description
When a DB2 V9.5 FP2 product is uninstalled in the SMS environment, using the "Run Advertised Programs" control panel applet, the following error message is displayed on some SMS machines: "The installation program has been unable to find the name of the user currently logged on to the operating system. The error code returned by the Networking API is "1008"." The uninstall is stopped by this error. Note: The SMS deployments is executed in the LocalSystem context.
Local fix
1). Use the "\\host\share\[db2imagePath]\db2unins /f" command line to remove the db2 product on the SMS client machine. Note: This command line will remove ALL DB2 products on the system. 2). In case there are multiple db2 copies installed on the system and you do not want to remove all of them, you can execute the db2unins command line to uninstall a particular product, or the products in a particular copy. Instead of using the "Run Advertised Programs" control panel applet. Please check the DB2 On-line Information Center for detailed instructions of db2unins's usage and its command line parameters.
