Error description
An ALTER TABLESPACE issued against a tablespace with AUTORESIZE YES returns SQL0911, rc 68 (locktimeout) while a concurrent online backup is running. The SQL0911 is returned right away ignoring the LOCKTIMEOUT value because the online backup is not compatible with AUTORESIZE tablespaces since the online backup requests the AUTORESIZE lock in SHARE mode when processing that specific tablespace and the ALTER TABLESPACE tries to get this lock in EXCLUSIVE mode. This APAR will change Online backup to acquire AUTORESIZE locks for all the tablespaces at the beginning of the online backup and release the lock for the specific tablespace which Online backup has completed. So as the online backup proceeds, more and more AUTORESIZE locks will be freed. This will allow ALTER TABLESPACES to complete for tablespaces who have had their locks released by online backup.
Local fix
(1)If the tablespace doesn't need to be set with AUTORESIZE yes, then this problem will not occur. (2)If the ALTER is done after the backup completes, then this problem doesn't occur.
