APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
During the setup of V95FP1 DB2 Thin client, a MessageBox opens: "MDAC 2.8 RTM is incompatible with this version of Windows. All of its features are currently part of Windows. " After the user clicks on the 'cancel' button, the setup of DB2 Thin Client continues and will be completed. By the way, this error does not occur when the DB2 Client product is installed on the same machine. The cause of this problem is: The version of MDAC installed with Windows XP SP2 is 2.81, and the version of MDAC bundled in DB2 is 2.8. The DB2 Thin Client setup program tries to configure MDAC 2.8 on the system, where it already has higher level of MDAC. Thus, the Windows OS displays that message.
Local fix
User can ignore the error message by clicking on ?Cancel? button and db2 gets installed and functions properly
