Error description
Attempting to install Query Patroller on top of V9 DB2 Client via GUI install. In the "Select the DB2 copy to work with" wizard, action "Not available" is specified for the copy where DB2 Client at the same fixpak level is installed. The following is the description of why no action is available: No action is available. DB2 Query Patroller cannot be installed because there is no prerequisite DB2 product installed at this installation location. Install one of the following products before installing DB2 Query Patroller: DB2 Enterprise Server Edition DB2 Workgroup Server Edition DB2 Personal Edition IBM DB2 Express This pre-requisite is not correct for Query Patroller.
Local fix
There are two ways to work-around this problem: (1) GUI install, but not launched from setup.exe: You can launch the QP (or other db2 products) install by executing wininst.exe, instead of setup.exe. -- wininst.exe is in the ~\db2\windows\ directory in the install image -- Please use the following command line to launch the install: wininst.exe [EXISTING] -e [prodAbbrev] -n [db2CopyName] -f eg. wininst.exe EXISTING -e QP -n DB2COPY1 -f For more info about the command line parameters, you can run the command "wininst /?" (2) Response file based silent install: The QP response file can be created by modifying the sample response file shipped with the QP install image, in the ~\db2\windows\samples\ directory. The idea of these work-around methods is to install QP without going through the Picker wizard, where the user selects the DB2 copy to install into.
