Error description
When user tasks of a process are implemented by a human service, you might start the human service for the same task more than once in multiple browser windows or browser tabs. For example, you might click the link of an email notification from IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) more than once. If a different user owns the task, you might not see the expected error message ("The task you tried to start is owned by another user.") but a generic error message instead ("Ask the administrator to check the SystemOut.log file for more information to resolve the error."). Local fix
Problem summary
When you run a task, instance information of this service is stored in your HTTP session on the server. When the runtime environment notices that you do not own the task, it removes the information from the HTTP session and displays the "The task you tried to start is owned by another user." error. If you try to run the same task twice, two concurrent threads on the server work with the same HTTP session, which can lead to information being removed from the session by one thread that the other thread still expected. An unexpected failure happens that leads to the generic error message.
Problem conclusion
A fix will be included in IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2017.03 that ensures that synchronizes concurrent threads for the same task instance so that no unexpected failure happens and the correct error message is shown.
