Error description
For IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL, the process search SQL query is generated incorrectly when 'equals null' is used as business data condition in process searches; process instances are not returned when the business data condition value is set to null and matches the process variable value. PRODUCTS AFFECTED IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) Advanced IBM BPM Standard IBM BPM Express
Local fix
Problem summary
The SQL query applies the equals operator '=' instead of the 'is null' syntax to filter the process instances by business data. Change in behavior: A process search now returns process instances when the search condition 'equals null' is used on business data.
Problem conclusion
A fix will be available in IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2017.06 that uses the SQL query to return process instances that match the business data also when you use the 'equals null' condition.
