Problem
When exporting a Microsoft Word document to IBM Rational DOORS using 'Export to DOORS' macro, following visual basic run-time error occurs: Run-time error '5904': Cannot edit Range.
Symptom
The full error message is as follows:
Run-time error '5904': Cannot edit Range.
Cause
This issue can be seen if the Microsoft Word document you are trying to export to IBM Rational DOORS has any track changes enabled or contains field codes.
Resolving The Problem
Track changes or Field codes are not supported by IBM Rational DOORS.
As workaround(s):
- Disable track changes or field codes in MS Word document, and then try exporting to Rational DOORS.
- Save the Microsoft Word document as 'Rich Text Format' (RTF), and import it within Rational DOORS using File -> Import -> Rich Text Format functionality.
