Question
Error "Unregistered OLE objects will be exported as pictures" encountered while exporting a module in IBM Rational DOORS to Microsoft Word
Answer
When you export a module in Rational DOORS modules to Microsoft Word, you may encounter the following error message:
"Object XX contains one or more unregistered OLE objects in 'Object Text'.
These OLE objects will be exported as pictures"
This is a warning message that you will normally encounter if the option "Issue a warning when an unregistered OLE object is exported as a picture" is checked in the Export to Word window. By default this option is checked and during the export if there are any unregistered OLE objects in the module, the user will get this error.
(An unregistered OLE refers to an OLE object for which there is no application associated in the Client machine. Such OLE cannot be activated in DOORS. For example, if a DOORS module you are working on contains a Word document and you do not have Microsoft Word installed on your machine, the Word document is an unregistered OLE object.)
If there are many such OLEs then the export will stop at each such object and issue a warning. To continue the export without these warnings, please uncheck the option "Issue a warning when an unregistered OLE object is exported as a picture" and then export the module.
