Encryption format for data transfer and store passwords in IBM Rational DOORS

Question & Answer

Question

What is the encryption format that IBM Rational DOORS uses for data transfer and store passwords?

Answer

The data is transmitted from point to point using TCP/IP.

All data files are compressed and obfuscated, and all password information is encrypted to help prevent snooping data from the raw packets.

Passwords are stored inside data files which are zlib obfuscated.

The passwords themselves are MD5 hashed (128 bit) and they are also “Salted” (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_(cryptography)).
