Troubleshooting
Problem
Cannot connect to the Doors Database from the Gateway browser.
Symptom
When clicking on an existing link to a Doors document, a dialog displays a message "Invalid Class String". Also, when you attempt to create a new connection to the Doors Database (having selected the Doors Requirements type in configuration mode), and you attempt to select the actual Doors document, you get a second error: "The system cannot find the file specified" followed by "Create Process".
Cause
The system is missing one or two of the following Doors registry keys in the Microsoft Windows Registry:
Resolving The Problem
In the Microsoft Windows registry, look for this registry entry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DOORS.Application\CLSID\
The value contained therein should look something like this:
{5b833c90-fc9e-11ce-9efc-524153480001}.
This is a GUID.Then, find the next registry entry containing the default value or GUID number:
{GUID}\LocalServer32\
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\
This key should contain the path of the DOORS executable.
If it doesn't,there are two ways of fixing the entries:
- You can specify an environment variable DOORS_SCRIPT containing the full path of the DOORS executable.
- You must log into Microsoft Windows using the Administrator account (or user with rights to modify the global registry) and launch the DOORS client. Once fully launch and running close the DOORS client. This should update the registry appropriately. Once this is done, you can log off the Microsoft Windows Administrator account.
The registry entries should now be fixed. Check the Microsoft Windows Registry again to ensure this is complete.
The final step is to open Doors from within the Gateway to verify the completeness of the setup.
