Error description

  • Two issues being addressed here:
    1) Fast Path Advanced tool needs to read CI 0 in order to
       perform better integrity checking.
    2) Online Pointer Checker ( OPC ) being enhanced to provide
better feedback when API call AO status code is received,
       such as:
FPX0011E DL/I #FPU IOPR failed status code AO

    MSGFPX0011E

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Fast Path Solution Pack *
    *                 Version 1 Release 2 (FMID: HAHQ120) who use  *
    * the Analyze function of HPFPU Fast Path *
    * Advanced Tool (FPA), HPFPU Fast Path Online *
    * Tools (FPO), or the FP DB Sensor Printing *
    *                 utility.                                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: FPA Analyze function and FPO OPC does *
    * not check the integrity of the CI RBA *
    * value, which is set at the end of each *
    * CI of DEDB areas. *
    * FP DB Sensor Printing utility does not *
    * clear some storage areas. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. FPA Analyze function:
Even if an incorrect CI RBA value is set at the end of a CI, FPA
Analyze function does not report the problem of the incorrect CI
RBA value and continues processing with no error.

    2. FPO utilities:
Even if an incorrect CI RBA value is set at the end of a CI, FPO
utilities do not report the problem of the incorrect CI RBA
value. Instead, FPO utilities issue FPX0011E message and ends
    with ABENDU3500.

Date in the Sensor Data Statistics report is incorrect.

    3. FP DB Sensor Printing utility
FP DB Sensor Printing utility does not clear some storage areas
that are obtained dynamically during its processing. If the
obtained storages area contains non-null value, it can cause
    ABENDS0C4.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. FPA Analyze function:
FPA Analyze function has been modified to check the integrity of
the CI RBA value. FPA Analyze function checks the CI RBAs of all
CIs including 1st CI and 2nd CI, but except for the CIs in reorg
    UOW.
If an incorrect RBA value is set at the end of a CI, FPA Analyze
function issues a message in the Resolve Pointers report,
generates a snap dump when CISNAP=YES is specified, and counts
    as a pointer error.

    2. FPO utilities:
FPO utilities have been modified to check the integrity of the
    CI RBA value.
If an AO status code is returned when FPO utilities read CIs,
FPO utilities issue FPX0011E message and end with ABENDU3500 as
before, and also check the integrity of the RBA value of the CI
that is failed to read. If an incorrect RBA value is set at the
end of a CI, FPO utilities issue FPX0339E message.

FPO OPC has been modified to set correct date in the Sensor Data
    Statistics report.

    3. FP DB Sensor Printing utility
FP DB Sensor Printing utility has been modified to clear storage
areas that are obtained during its processing.

FPX0339E Incorrect RBA value in CI at RBA xxxxxxxx.
(cont) RBA value: yyyyyyyy Offset: zzzz
Explanation: An RBA value yyyyyyyy, which is set at offset zzzz
of a CI at RBA xxxxxxxx, was incorrect.
System action: Processing ends with an abend code of U3500.
User response: Run the FPA Analyze function to check the
integrity of the CI. Correct the reported problem, and rerun
    the job.

FPX0340E OPEN|GET failed for VSAM data set.
     (cont) - DSNAME: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(cont) - Return code is aaa (bb), ACB error flag code is ccc
    (dd)
       or
(cont) - Return code is aaa (bb), RPL feedback area is ccc
    (dd)
Explanation: A nonzero return code was received from VSAM when
attempting to access the VSAM data set by OPEN or GET macro. The
return code and the reason code in the ACB error flag code or
the RPL feedback area are shown in both decimal (aaa, ccc) and
    hexadecimal (bb, dd) format.
System action: Processing ends with an abend code of U3500.
User response: See DFSMS Macro Instructions for Data Sets which
describe VSAM administration macros. If this situation persists,
    contact IBM Software Support.

Explanation: The Analyze process detected that an RBA value
yyyyyyyy, which is set at offset zzzz of a CI at RBA xxxxxxxx,
    is incorrect.
User response: Run the FPA Unload function and the FPA Reload
function for the area to fix the incorrect FPA value in the CI.
