    When a user alters a table such that it will contain more than
    750 columns on panel ADB27C 'ALTER Table' or uses Object Compare
    to compare two tables that have more than 750 columns, DB2
    Admin analyzes the change with no errors, but the APPLY job
    fails with a SQLCODEN680 / SQLCODE=-680.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Problem has been resolved.
    The following error message is displayed when a user alters a
    table that contains more than 750 columns on panel ADB27C:
    
    1- For ALT new message ADB904E / msgadb904e has been
    added:
    
    ADB904E The table >schema<.>tb_name< contains too many
    columns.
    
    Explanation
    You can assign up to 750 columns to a non-dependent table.
    Dependent tables can have up to 749 columns.
    System action
    Processing stops.
    User response
    Limit the number of columns so that the allowed value is not
    exceeded and try the operation again.
    
    2- For Object Compare new message ADB7102e / msgadb7102e has
    been added:
    
    ADB7102E The table >schema<.>tb_name< contains too many
    columns.
