Error description
Using EXEC CICS CSD API or via CECI, a GETNEXTRSRCE command failed with CSDERR. The following message was also given out: DFHCA4824 Unable to perform request - Insufficient function in file definition for DFHCSD. . The problem occurs for the following kind of scenario: CEDA DEFINE FILE(AAAAAA) GROUP(xFILE) CEDA DEFINE FILE(BBBBBB) GROUP(xFILE) CEDA DEFINE FILE(CCCCCC) GROUP(xFILE) CECI CSD STARTBRRSRCE GROUP(xFILE) CSD GETNEXTRSRCE GROUP(xFILE) CSD DELETE FILE RESID(BBBBBB) GROUP(xFILE) CSD GETNEXTRSRCE GROUP(xFILE) . The trace shows 'csderr' preceeded by an entry with: AP 04E1 FCFR EXIT - FUNCTION(READ_NEXT_SET) RESPONSE(EXCEPTION) REASON(UNKNOWN_REQID_READNEXT) .. . The problem occurs only if DFHCSD is defined as an NSR file. (Using lsrpool 1, the problem no longer occurs).

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: EXEC CICS CSD GETNEXTRSRCE gets * * CSDERR with EIBRESP2=1 and message * * DFHCA4824 Unable to perform request - * * Insufficient function in file * * definition for DFHCSD. * **************************************************************** EXEC CICS CSD GETNEXTRSRCE can end with CSDERR when an established BROWSE is ended by an implicit SYNCPOINT due to an intervening CSD DELETE. This can only occur when the CSD is using VSAM NSR; with LSR the BROWSE state is preserved. GETNEXTLIST will exhibit the same symptoms when preceded by CSD REMOVE GROUP.
Problem conclusion
VSAM delete processing in DFHDMPCA will be changed to preserve the BROWSE state where VSAM non-shared resources are used with the CSD.
