PH17583: SLOW QUERY AND RENDER PERFORMANCE WHEN EXPORTING REPORT TO EXCELWITH DATA FROM A LARGE TABLE

Error description

• Large report run and saved results in long query SQL execution
  times.
  For example a query with 70+ columns and 300,000 rows retrieved
  from a single database table takes 40+ minutes to Query and
  generate output file in Excel requiring 20 mins Query time and
  25 mins Excel render time

Problem conclusion

• XQE depends on ReportServer to retrieve and render the output.
  CSV and XML formats do not preserve layout and style
  information, hence they are the fastest render formats
  
  When rendering to Excel 2007 or PDF, a HTML similar algorithm is
  applied. The calculation of column width, text alignment,
  styles, data formats etc. require an extra time to process and
  it is expected to be slower than CSV and XML formats.
  
  We continue to improve product performance in all areas, but no
  fixes can be delivered to address this testcase in specific.
