Error description

  • Using instructions for migrating existing ADI 5.1.0.x
    installation data to newly-installed, higher-level ADI 5.1.0.x
in a parallel directory, in the second bullet of step 4 at:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSKK7E_5.1.0/com.ibm
    .adi.product.doc/topics/migrateadisetup.html
may result in error messages shown in Windows command prompt
    indicating the directory is incorrect:
    "
    C:\adi5104\adi\server>adi-setup migration -fromDir c:\adi5102
    -skipJazzUpdate true
    2019-09-24 09:32:35,304 INFO -- CRIDA0398I ADI Setup started
    with operation "migration".
    2019-09-24 09:32:35,367 INFO -- CRIDA0411I Starting ADI
    Migration script with these parameters:
    {"fromDir":"c:\\adi5102","toDir":"C:\\adi5104\\adi","skipJazzUpd
    ate":"true"}.
    check:
    BUILD FAILED
    C:\adi5104\adi\server\adi-migrate-data.xml:198: Script for
copying adi data from one ADI build to another. Must specify
the parameters: fromDir and toDir, which each is tested for the
existence of a server sub directory. Usage example: ant -f
    adi-migrate-data.xml -DfromDir=/opt/ibm/adiOld
    -DtoDir=/opt/ibm/adi
    "
The migration does not occur when the above error is produced.

Local fix

  • Refer to error message text and specify at least the fromDir
parameter as the old ADI location that is just above the
\server folder. If old ADI is installed in C:\adi5102, then
the server folder may be C:\adi5102\adi\server, so the fromDir
parameter (for Windows) should be specified as C:\adi5102\adi .
Example of correct syntax for migrating an ADI 5.1.0.2
    instance's data to a newly-installed ADI 5.1.0.4 instance,
running the adi-setup command from the ...\server folder of the
new instance (part of the command is shown wrapped to a new
line below, but should be included all on same line when
running it in the Windows command prompt):

    C:\adi5104\adi\server>adi-setup migration -fromDir
    c:\adi5102\adi -skipJazzUpdate true

Problem summary

  • Paths and instructions in documented migration steps were not
    clear.

Problem conclusion

  • Migration documentation has been updated to for increased
    accuracy and usefulness.
