Error description

  • When the DB2 coprocessor is used and the compiler option
    RULES(NOOMITODOMIN) is specified, the compiler emits
    the following warning right after the start of WORKING-STORAGE:
      000046                WORKING-STORAGE SECTION.
    ==000046==> IGYDS1158-W **RULES(NOOMITODOMIN)** The first
                integer in the "OCCURS" clause was omitted.
                Please note: The integer that was specified was
                interpreted as the maximum number of elements in
                the table.
    The problem does not occur when the DB2 Coprocessor is not used.

Local fix

  • Ignore the warning until the correcting PTF is applied.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL V6.2 who compile *
    * with the SQL option and the *
    *                 RULES(NOOMITODOMIN) option.                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Incorrect output: The compiler *
    *                      unexpectedly produces                   *
    *                      error message IGYDS1158-W.              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    The SQL co-processor produced data description entries that
    violated the RULES(NOOMITODOMIN) option, which enforces a rule
    whereby data description entries cannot omit the lower bound
    of the OCCURS DEPENDING ON clause.

Problem conclusion

  • RULES(NOOMITODOMIN) processing in the compiler was updated to
    ignore data description entries produced by the SQL
    co-processor.
