Error description

  • You are using the CICSPlex SM CMCI interface to inquire on
CICS Shared Temporary Storage (Shared TS) Queues.
The queue name in all records returned is translated into
character data, which can lead to a loss of uniqueness
compared to queue name when represented in hexadecimal.

    * APAR, all regions (including CMAS, WUI and *

    ****************************************************************
A CICS Shared TSQ name can contain a wide range of characters.
When the CMCI interface is used to retrieve Shared TSQ records
from a CICS system, the names returned in the CICS Shared
TSQueue (cicssharedtsqueue) NAME field will be treated as
character data. This means that some hex values may be
    translated to other printable characters.
Where such translation occurs the NAME returned on the CICS
Shared TSQueue record is not a true representation of the
TSQ NAME in CICS, and could not be used to request further
    CMCI operations against that queue.

Problem conclusion

  • A new field, HEXNAME, has been added to the TSQSHR
resource table. This field is similar to the HEXNAME field
on the TSQNAME resource table, in that it contains the name
of the shared TS queue, represented in hexadecimal.
Module EYU0NAG0 has been modified to support the new
HEXNAME field on the resource table.

For CICS TS for z/OS V5.5, the CMCI GraphQL server application
is updated to recognise the new field.
