PH12164: CICS 5.5 PLT PROCESSING DOES NOT PERFORM SYNTAX OR ERROR CHECKING

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• You migrate to CICS 5.5, which no longer supports assembled
  PLTPI or PLTSD programs. At 5.5, CICS uses an interpretative
  process to read the source code for the PLT programs. This
  process was originally implemented with no syntax checking and
  no error messages.
  This APAR is being opened to implement proper syntax checking
  during the interpretation of the PLT source and produce new
  error messages if errors are found.

Local fix

• Assemble source using pre-5.5 libraries to perform syntax
  checking before using PLT source in a 5.5 environment
  

Problem summary

  *                      Table) entries may be ignored without   *
  *                      warning.                                *

  When processing the PLT, program entries can be ignored when not
  part of a correctly spelled PROGRAM=progname entry. There is no
  warning message to highlight this.
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS will check that the PLT entry contains 'PROGRAM='.
  Unrecognised entries will result in new message DFHAP2000I.
  The following new message will be added to the CICS TS 5.5
  Messages and Codes manual:
  
  DFHAP2000I applid Unrecognized statement found in program list
  table (PLT). The statement is:  pltdata
  System Action:
  CICS continues to validate entries in the PLT.
