Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server web * * server plugin users with Intelligent * * Management enabled * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A crash may occur with a stack * * indicating memcpy invoked from * * ws_ReallySendRequest * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A crash may occur when reading data from a client successfully but the read indicates an error occurred.
Problem conclusion
The code checked for data in the read buffer and the return code indicates the number of bytes read. When a read error occurs but data is read and placed in the buffer, the read size indicates -1 and a copy of -1 bytes was attempted which causes a crash. The code has been fixed to check the buffer as well as checking for a -1 return code. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.16 and 9.0.5.1.
