Error description

  • You are running CICS TS 5.3, with "Policy system rules"
maintenance applied. You are repeatedly getting an error
    reported:

DFHMP0002 A severe error (code X'0606') occurred in module
    DFHMPMO

There is a corresponding trace entry:
taskn QR MP 0606 MPMO *EXC* MPMOD_unlock_failed
      REGISTER_POLICY,Policy_Rule_Name,aaaaaaaa , 00000000,LMLM_P

The message "MP 0606 MPMO *EXC* MPMOD_unlock_failed" is ouput
by DFHMPTRI, based on the value of tid_mpmo_mpmod_lock_failed.
This is set after a call to UNLOCK MPMOD (SHARED), in DFHMPMO.
    The lock is held EXCL.

There is also an exception trace entry, showing an issue is
    with the PLIST:
LMLM_PLIST: ** Decode of parameter list failed **

The LMLM parameter list is area 2 of the MP 0606 exception
trace entry. It appears to contain character data including a
partial timestamp (just a second before the dump).

This APAR is being opened to investigate the looping behavior,
which is responsible for the repeated DFHMP0002 messages.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHMP0002 issued repeatedly for *
    *                      severe error x'0606'.                   *
    ****************************************************************
DFHMPMO REGISTER_POLICY requires the locking of lock MPMOD, if
either the lock or unlock fails the CICS region enters a loop
issuing message DFHMP0002. This loop is only seen in CICS TS
    5.3.
The exception trace that is issued along with the DFHMP0002
message may also have a data2 which cannot be formatted.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHMPMO has been changed to stop the loop of DFHMP0002 messages
after the first one has been issued.
DFHMPMO has also been changed to provide a valid data2 in the
exception trace (trace pointid MP 0606 ).
