Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Update defaults for the Xmso value and *
    * the shared library region setting. *
    * Also improve the information provided *
    * for gathering JVM dumps. *
    ****************************************************************
    - The 64-bit JVM uses a minimum of 1M of 64-bit native stack,
because of this, setting Xmso too small can cause the JVM to
fail prematurely when it uses the JNI.

    - Shared Library Region ON can result in large amounts of 31-bit
    storage being used.

    - Users have frequently been unable to capture Java Dumps on the
    first occurrence of a problem.

Problem conclusion

  • UI61970

This APAR changes the default -Xmso value from 128k to 1M in the
    supplied JVM Profiles.

It also sets _BPXK_DISABLE_SHLIB=YES in the supplied JVM Profile
templates and ensures that the default behaviour is to disable
    the Shared Library Region.

Guidance in the supplied JVM Profile templates on how to set and
control the locations of JVM dumps has been improved.

UI63495 which resolves PH09400 also contains ACTION tracking
which was missing from UI61970, explaining that DFJ@H317,
    ../lib/pipeline/commons-fileupload.jar, has been removed.
