Error description

  • When starting up the WUI server, the following message was
    issued:
    .
EYUVS0218E E Failed to enable CICS Management Client
       Interface on JVM server EYUCMCIJ.
    .
Although this message occurred, the WUI still came up
successfully and was fully functional. In VWXL routine
vwxi_check_cmcijvmserver we check the status of the JVM server
for a 30 second window waiting for it to become enabled.
Otherwise we issue the EYUVS0218E message.
    .
In analysing this issue, we took note of the timestamp of the
DFHSJ0915 message issued from CICS indicating the EYUCMCIJ JVM
server is enabled and ready for use:
    .
DFHSJ0915 date time applid userid JVMSERVER EYUCMCIJ is now
enabled and is ready for use.
    .
And compared it to the timestamp of the EYUVS0218E message
issued by CPSM to indicate the EYUCMCIJ JVM server failed to
    enable:
    .
date time EYUVS0218E applid Failed to enable CICS Management
Client Interface on JVM server EYUCMCIJ.
    .
In the first issue, these two messages were issued at the same
time. In the second instance, the DFHSJ0915 was issued about
15 seconds after the EYUVS0218E message was issued.
    .
This apar will increase the time CPSM will wait for the JVM to
    start.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A CPSM WUI region issues msgEYUVS0218E *
    * reporting that EYUCMCIJ did not start *
    * even though CICS reports that the *

    ****************************************************************
A CICSPlex SM WUI server is configured to provide the CMCI
interface using the CMCI JVM server EYUCMCIJ.
When the region starts, the WUI issues message EYUVS0218E,
reporting that EYUCMCIJ failed to start. This occurs even
though CICS reports that the JVMSERVER did become enabled.
date time EYUVS0218E applid Failed to enable CICS Management
Client Interface on JVM server EYUCMCIJ.
DFHSJ0915 date time applid user JVMSERVER EYUCMCIJ is
now enabled and is ready for use.

Problem conclusion

  • EYU0VWXI has been modified to increase the time allowed for
the EYUCMCIJ JVMSERVER resource to reach the ENABLED state
    before message EYUVS0218E is issued.

The CICS Knowledge Center will be updated with new message
    EYUVS0223I:
EYUVS0223I Waiting for CICS Management Client Interface
                JVM server jvmservername to enable.

    Explanation
The CICSPlex SM WUI server has installed a JVM server for
the CICS Management Client Interface and will now wait for it
to become enabled. The system will wait for up to approximately
five minutes. If the JVM server has not reached either the
ENABLED or DISABLED state at the end of this time then
    message EYUVS0218E will be issued.
