Error description
There is a timing window that can occur when a BBOC STOP_SRVR is done causing an ABEND301. In this case, the unregister does not complete, and the following errors happen for register/unregister commands issued after this: BBOA8103E An error occurred during register with return code 8 and reason code 8. BBOA8100E An error occurred during Unregister with return code 8 and reason code 82

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 and V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ABEND301/ABENDS301 occurrs in the * * client process after calling the WOLA * * unregister force API. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An ABEND301/ABENDS301 can occur when the WebSphere Optimized Local Adapters (WOLA) unregister API (BBOA1URG) is driven to forcibly terminate a registration. The unregister API will close all connections used by the WOLA registration. A task in the client process can be waiting for a request on a WOLA connection at the same time a separate task calls unregister and starts to close that connection. Under some circumstances both tasks will issue the MVS wait macro on the ECB used to manage the connection at the same time. This results in an ABEND code 301. The CICS link server used by WOLA uses the unregister force API when the BBOC transaction is invoked, for functions "unregister" or "stop_srvr".
Problem conclusion
Code was added to prevent the ABEND301/ABENDS301 when the BBOA1URG API is invoked. APAR PI21332 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs 8.0.0.10 and 8.5.5.4 of WebSphere Application Server.
