  Code was added in QMF V11 to remove parenthetical comments
  that are indicated by a / followed by an *.
  However, a / followed by an * is a valid path expression
  in XQUERY, and removing it from the XQUERY expression caused
  the error.
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is to leave the path expression as is when
  found in parentheses.
