Problem
How do you allow a User, Group or Role to run reports containing User-Defined SQL and HTML Items but not be allowed to open Report for editing in report studio
Symptom
User encounters error when trying to run a report containing a query built with User defined SQL or HTML Items
RQP-DEF-0326 or XQE-PLN-0148
User defined SQL is not permitted for the user who has the identity '{List of groups or roles the user is a member of}'
or
HTML Items in Report is not permitted for the user who has the identity '{List of groups or roles the user is a member of}'
Resolving The Problem
Grant the Traverse permission and Deny the Execute permission to the Report Studio capability and Grant Traverse and Execute permission to the User Defined SQL for your User, Group or Role in Cognos Administration.
In Cognos Administration, Security tab, Capabilities section
1. Go to Properties of the Report Studio capability
2. Select or Add your User, Group or Role
3. Grant Traverse and Deny Execute
4. Click the Report Studio capability to view its child capabilities
5. Select or Add your User, Group or Role, Grant Traverse and Execute in properties for 'User Defined SQL'
6. Select or Add your User, Group or Role, Grant Traverse and Execute in properties for 'HTML Items in Report'
