Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO/CICS V10.1 and V11.1 users.  *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User migrated QMF Version 8 CM mode to *
    * QMF V10. The user had missed some *
    * migration steps and could not start *
    * QMF. User saw warning message *
    *                      MSGDSQ10344 'GDDM code page (351) does  *
    * not match CCSIDs in use for this *
    *                      database (VA1A)' on the terminal        *
    * screen. After debugging and fixing the *
    *                      DSQ10344 condition, user started QMF    *
    * and saw MSGDSQ10406 'QMF Object Control *
    * Table structure is not as expected.'. *
    * User later found out that the DSQ10344 *
    * was a warning condition that would not *
    * have stopped QMF from initializing. The *
    * more severe and true problem for the *
    * initialization failure was the *
    *                      DSQ10406.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    User should have seen the terminating error DSQ10406 on his
    terminal screen when QMF failed to start. Note that both the
    DSQ10344 and DSQ10406 messages were in the QMF trace data,
    DSQDEBUG.

Problem conclusion

  • QMF has been corrected to display the severe termination message
    to the terminal screen if a failure occurs that prevents QMF
    from starting correctly. QMF will not display QMF warning
    messages such as DSQ10344 which do not stop QMF from starting to
    the terminal screen.
