Error description
Rational Developer for System z 8.5.1 - RDz - CARMA Endevor Enhanced Edit of production element copies all versions to new/entry environment. When CARMA Enhanced Edit (RDz implementation of Endevor Fast/quick edit) is used against production element, CARMA Endevor RAM will issue TRANSFER ELEMENT Endevor API call (starting in RDz 8.5.1.1) to copy prod element to user specified location/environment. When production element has multiple versions, all versions are copied to environment where element is being edited. In most, if not all cases, user expects only the latest version of prod element to be copied. Local Fix: This problem is related to the way the TRANSFER ELEMENT Endevor API is being done. Starting in RDz 8.5.1.4 (host maintenance), a CARMA server configuration option is provided that will change this TRANSFER ELEMENT call to a RETRIEVE ELEMENT, followed by a ADD ELEMENT API call, to get element from prod to test/entry environment. Customers experiencing this problem should configure CARMA to use this Retrieve-Add option (in CRACFG file allocated by CARMA Server, un-comment the ENTRY-STAGE-COPY-MODE = RETRIEVE-ADD statement) to resolve this problem until APAR is available.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: 01.RDz users who access the Endevor * * repository using the IBM supplied RDz * * Endevor RAM and make use of the Enhanced * * Edit capabilities. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 01.RDz CARMA Endevor Enhanced Edit of * * production element copies all * * versions to new/entry environment. * * This problem is because the RDz * * CARMA Endevor RAM is using the * * "Move with history" option when * * invoking the CA Endevor Transfer * * Element API. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** 01.The RDz Endevor RAM is specifying "Y" in the "Move with history" option when invoking the CA Endevor Transfer Element API. This causes all versions to also be transfered to the target stage.
Problem conclusion
01.The RDz Endevor RAM needs to specify "N" for the "Move with history" option of the CA Endevor Transfer Element API.
