Error description
After reformatting UCM project VOBs to schema 80, but not advancing their Feature Level to 7 or 8, the server may start building up a large number of db_server processes that consume a huge amount of memory. Example: ---------------------------------------------------- 08:02:53 Top 10 processes by RSS || /bin/prstat -n 10 -s rss -c 1 1 ---------------------------------------------------- PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP 3793 root 3617M 3614M sleep 59 0 0:08:51 0.0% db_server/1 25369 root 2679M 2678M sleep 59 0 0:05:48 0.0% db_server/1 1669 root 989M 986M sleep 59 0 0:05:23 0.0% db_server/1 3621 root 937M 934M sleep 59 0 0:04:36 0.0% db_server/1 4033 root 921M 918M sleep 59 0 0:01:47 0.0% db_server/1 3614 root 913M 910M sleep 59 0 0:01:25 0.0% db_server/1 3017 root 909M 906M sleep 59 0 0:01:21 0.0% db_server/1 3157 root 885M 882M sleep 59 0 0:01:23 0.0% db_server/1 10485 root 879M 878M sleep 59 0 0:01:30 0.0% db_server/1 10502 root 789M 786M cpu19 20 0 0:01:07 0.3% db_server/1 Total: 132 processes, 1322 lwps, load averages: 0.92, 0.83, 0.88
Local fix
A restart of ClearCase server processes, and in some cases a reboot of the server, is required to releases the memory to other processes
