Question & Answer

Question

Why do I get the message 'The object the link refers to is now deleted' and how can I remove this in-link?

Answer

Symptoms:

When following an in-link indicator the following message appears: 'The linked object is not visible in the current view. Do you want to load the Standard View?'. When choosing 'Yes' the message 'The object the link refers to is now deleted' is displayed. The in-link cannot be deleted and therefore the object with the in-link cannot be deleted either.

Solution:

In the module where the out-link should be, go to the 'View/Show/Deletions. Deleted objects will appear with red writing. Find the object the link refers to, highlight it and go to 'Edit/Object/Undelete'. Once the object is undeleted the out-link indicator will re-appear and the link can now be deleted.

Alternatively, once you have found the object in question go to 'Edit/Object/Purge'. This will completely remove the object and its links from the DOORS Database. Please note that once an object has been purged, it cannot be undeleted.
