Errors occur when federating a running application server with local user name and password

Troubleshooting

Problem

An error can occur when you federate a running IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Version 7.0 with local security enabled and you specify a user name and password for the Application Server. If you use the []addNode[] command, you would specify localusername and localpassword parameters for the user name and password. If you use the administrative console, you would specify the Application Server user name and the Application Server password settings for the user name and password.

Symptom

The following messages result from the attempt to add a node:

ADMU0027E: An error occurred during federation ADMU0005E: Error synchronizing
repositories ; rolling back to original configuration.
ADMU0211I: Error details may be seen in the file:
           <WAS_HOME>/profiles/AppSrv01/logs/addNode.log
ADMU0026I: An error occurred during federation; rolling back to original
           configuration.
ADMU0111E: Program exiting with error:
           com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException: ADMU0005E:
           Error synchronizing repositories
ADMU0211I: Error details may be seen in the file:
           <WAS_HOME>/profiles/AppSrv01/logs/addNode.log

In the addNode.log file the following messages are displayed:

[mm/dd/yy hr:min:sec:msec TZ] 0000000b FileTransferC E ADFS0112E: File transfer has failed with the following message: Can not authorize https://dmgr_host:9043/FileTransfer/transfer/download%2Fcells%2Fplugin-cfg.xml9466.tmp? compress=true&deleteOnCompletion=true. [mm/dd/yy hr:min:sec:msec TZ] 0000000b RepositoryInp A ADFS0119E: An unexpected exception occurred: java.io.FileNotFoundException: File download failed: java.io.IOException: Can not authorize https://dmgr_host:9043/FileTransfer/transfer/download%2Fcells%2Fplugin-cfg.xml9466.tmp? compress=true&deleteOnCompletion=true.

Environment

Local security is enabled for the Application Server node. The localusername and localpassword parameters are used in the addNode command to federate the node to the deployment manager. The Application Server user name and the Application Server password settings are used in the administrative console to federate the node to the deployment manager.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:

  1. Make sure that the local Application Server is stopped.
  2. Issue the addNode command without the local usernname and localpassword parameters.
