PI85450: DFHSM0133 CICS UNDERS STRESS SHORT ON STORAGE ABOVE 16MB DUE TO SUBPOOL ZCBIMG IN ECDSA

APAR status

Error description

• You are running CICS transaction server 5.3 using IPIC
  connection for transaction routing and receive the
  following error messages:
  .
  DFHSM0133 CICS is under stress(short on storage above 16MB).
  DFHSM0134 CICS is no longer short on storage above 16MB.
  These repeat until the region stays SOS above the line:
  DFHSM0133 CICS is under stress (short on storage above 16MB)
  DFHSM0142 CICS is still under stress
          (short on storage above 16MB).
  DFHSM0142 CICS is still under stress
          (short on storage above 16MB).
  In MSGUSER you notice the following messages around the
  same time as the messages above:
  DFHIS1052  Session error in IPCONN xxxx
  DFHIS1021  Session error occurred on RECEIVE IPIC session in
             IPCONN xxxx.
  DFHIS1021  Session error occurred on SEND IPIC session in
             IPCONN xxxx.
  
  
  Looking at the storage usage in the EDSA, you find the ECDSA
  is using most of the storage- specifically subpool name
  ZCBIMG which represents Storage for BIND images.
  CICS is not freemaining these bind images, during
  surrogate tctte deletion causing the build up of storage
  leading to SOS.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS short on storage happened due to   *
  *                      subpool ZCBING in ECDSA.                *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: .                                            *
  ****************************************************************
  Two CICS regions contacted via IPIC. A transaction routing
  request arrived from remote CICS region. Task CITS is attached
  to install a skeleton TCTTE and a surrogate TCTTE. BIND IMAGE
  storage is GETMAINed and addressed in surrogate TCTTE. After
  CITS, CICS initialize the surrogate TCTTE and set flag TCTTEMBI
  to TRUE. During task termination, surrogate TCTTE will be
  FREEMAINed. But BIND IMAGE storage can not be FREEMAINed
  because of flag TCTTEMBI. After a lots of transaction routing
  requests over a long period, short on storage happened.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHAPRS has been changed to make sure the BIND IMAGE storage
  can be properly FREEMAINed.
