Error description

  • In z/os Explorer 3.0.1 and 3.0.1.5 client, the save password
shown at the bottom of the logon window can be disabled.
However, although the host side RSE entry of
    _RSE_JAVAOPTS="$_RSE_JAVAOPTS -DDENY_PASSWORD_SAVE=true" is set,
the option is still included on the screen.
There is no preference on the client to disable the password
    before logging in.
    Setting com.ibm.cics.core.connections/passwordSaveable=false has
    no effect.

Two scenarios are possible that require this to be resolved:
    1) When using a new profile dataset, the Save Password is not
    disabled.
    2) When entering a user id and password on logon, if the user
selects "Save Password" and the connection fails, the password
will be saved on the client.

An addition to plugin_customization.ini will allow this to be
set be set for new and existing workspaces.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • In z/OS Explorer, the password save feature could not be
    disabled for RSE-based connections.

Problem conclusion

  • The 'Save password' checkbox can be disabled for RSE-based
remote z/OS connections by using the following property in the
plugin_customization.ini file within the z/OS Explorer product
    install directory:
    com.ibm.cics.core.connections/passwordSaveable=false
