PI77231: REMOVE VOLUMES FROM SHARED TARGET POOL WHEN IN A RELATIONSHIP

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• This enhancement will add a check for an existing relationship
  when creating the target pool. So if the user is performing
  either a Flash or DFSMSdss type backup only and also using a
  shared target pool we will check for an existing relationship
  and remove those target volumes from the target pool. The only
  situation this may introduce is if for any reason the backup
  needs to be run again before performing the offload those
  target volumes will be eliminated from the target pool. This
  may be ok if there are plenty of volumes in the target pool
  but if the target pool doesn’t have extra target volumes the
  backup will fail. To get around this situation if it should
  occur we are adding a new input control card for the backup.
  That control card is REUSE-SHARED-TARGETS. If this control
  card is present volumes already in a relationship will not be
  eliminated from the target pools. We have not yet determined
  a time frame for this enhancement, the team will meet sometime
  this week to determine that time frame.
