APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In IBM Explorer for z/OS Version 3.0.1.2, no warning message is
displayed
when saving a member with lines longer than the record format.


Steps to reproduce:

1- edit a COBOL member with format RECFM=FB,LRECL=80
2- write a line longer than 80 characters and save the file
3- file is saved truncated without warning

Local fix

  • there is no known workaround at this time.

Problem summary

  • When using the default plain TextEditor or other basic Eclipse
editors in IBM Explorer for z/OS, a warning is not displayed
when saving a data set member containing lines longer than LRECL

Problem conclusion

  • When saving MVS file content that contains lines longer than
LRECL in basic Eclipse text editors, a warning dialog will now
be displayed, similar to the warning displayed by the JCL
editor.
