PI75385: INTERMITTENT 878-10 ABENDS ON DB2 UTILITIES OR DB2 TOOLS RUNNINGWITH DB2SORT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The customer reports executing the very same LOAD utility in
  different steps.
  Intermittently it gets an abend878 after several steps have
  completed.
  All the s878 dumps we have showed a TCB issuing a getmain
  (SVC 4) of all the available private storage, and subsequent TCB
  issuing even a small getmain for RACHECK processing before the
  1st task did the freemain, causing the abend.
