APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Rational Developer for System z (RDz): RDZ client 9.5.1.1 causes
RDz freeze when a JES-filter is defined with 9 characters long.
Step to reproduce:
- Define a JES-filter for a jobname with LRCUKRET* as criteria
- 'Fetching children of LRCUKRET*: 0%' is shown in the bottom
task bar and RDz client gets frozen.
- rsecomm log shows the following error:
INFO: JMConnection: Received: 101 Usage error.

Local fix

  • Define a filter with 8 characters to match with the JOB Name
limitation.

Problem summary

  • When a user defines a filter that has more than 8 characters in
a field, such a job name, the expansion of that filter causes
the IDE to hang.

Problem conclusion

  • Users are allowed to defined JES filters that have incorrect
field lengths.  If a filter field has more than 8 characters,
the query will hang.

This APAR will be available in IBM Explorer for z/OS 3.0.1.5
