Error description
z/OS MQ command DIS CHLAUTH(MJ.OCWMB01.OQ04.S) ADDRESS(1.1.1.1) QMNAME(OQ04) MATCH(RUNCHECK) results in a dump being created: TITLE=ssid,ABN=EC6-0F01C008,U=userid,C=MQ900.900.MMC - CSQMRLUT,M=CSQGFRCV,PSW=477C1001889DB8F8,ASID=0115
Local fix
The customer could circumvent the problem by disabling queue-manager reverse DNS lookups (ALTER QMGR REVDNS(DISABLED)) or configure the MSTR user ID with a valid UID in the OMVS segment in RACF.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All users of IBM MQ for z/OS Version 9 Release 0 * * Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Command DISPLAY CHLAUTH generates abend EC6-0F01C008 in * * CSQMRLUT. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * N/A * **************************************************************** The abend EC6-0F01C008 indicates that the MSTR address space is running under a user ID that does not have a valid UID assigned in the OMVS segment in RACF. This prevents the queue manager to invoke USS service calls. The command DISPLAY CHLAUTH fails when calling services to validate IP addresses or looking up for the host name for an IP address.
Problem conclusion
The queue manager now checks that it can invoke USS service calls and if the MSTR user ID is incorrectly configured without a valid UID in the OMVS segment, a CSQM001E message is issued during queue manager restart and it disables all USS service calls during the process of a DISPLAY CHLAUTH command. ------------------------------------------------------------- Add the following new message to knowledge center for MQ V900: - WebSphere MQ - WebSphere MQ 9.0.0 - IBM MQ - Reference - Diagnostic messages - Messages and reason codes for z/OS - Messages - Message manager messages (CSQM...) CSQM001E: csect-name MSTR user ID cannot invoke USS callable services Explanation The MQ queue manager MSTR address space is running under a user ID that has not been configured with authority to execute callable Unix System Services (USS). In RACF, the user ID requires an OMVS segment with an UID assigned. Severity 8 System action This message is issued and the execution of Unix System Services calls for reverse DNS hostname lookup are disabled in the MSTR address space. System programmer response Refer to "Planning your z/OS UNIX or UNIX System Services environment" where queue manager MSTR and CHIN address spaces require user IDs with OMVS segments defined with a valid UID. Please correct the configuration of the queue manager MSTR address space user ID and restart the queue manager. ------------------------------------------------------------- Replace the following section in knowledge center for MQ V900: - WebSphere MQ - WebSphere MQ 9.0.0 - IBM MQ - Planning - Planning your IBM MQ environment on z/OS - Planning your z/OS Unix or Unix System Services environment Planning your z/OS UNIX or UNIX System Services environment Certain processes within the IBM® MQ queue manager (MSTR) and the channel initiator (CHIN) use z/OS® UNIX or UNIX System Services for their normal processing. Plan your configuration if you do not want to use the default UNIX System Services configuration. No special action or customization is necessary in order for IBM MQ to use UNIX services as long as a system-wide default OMVS segment has been set up. Users who do not want IBM MQ to invoke UNIX System Services using the guest/default UID and OMVS segment, need only model a new OMVS segment based on the default segment as IBM MQ requires no special permissions, and does not run within UNIX as a superuser. ------------------------------------------------------------- Insert a new bullet after 3. in the "About this task" and "Procedure" sections in Knowledge Centers for MQ V900: - WebSphere MQ - WebSphere MQ 9.0.0 - IBM MQ - Migrating and upgrading - Migrating IBM MQ for z/OS - order of tasks - Preparing to migrate a queue manager About this task 4. Review definitions of the user IDs for the queue manager (MSTR) and channel initiator (CHIN) address spaces. Procedure 4. Check that MSTR and CHIN address spaces run under user IDs that have OMVS segments defined with a valid UID to enable calling Unix System Services (USS). --------------------------------------------------------------
